Cellular phones, nowdays, are used by almost everyone. These gadgets do not serve only as a means of communication, but also as music players, organizers, cameras, and radios. With this, the rise of the percentage of cell phone users has been increasing rapidly. In fact, a study made by the Marist Institute for Public Opinion in the United States reported that 87 percent of respondents admit owning a cellular phone.
To best understand how cell phones work, let us first dissect what tiny tools are working inside them:
Circuit board that runs the entire system. This is one of the most important parts of a cellphone and is considered as the brain of the gadget.
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Screen.
Battery which powers the cellular phone.
Keyboard maintaining of 0 to 9 and miscellaneous function buttons.
Microphone and Speakers.
Antenna used to collect signals.
Mobile phones also come with multiple enhancement accessories most of which are manufactured by a third party manufacturer. An example would be cell phone signal boosters or wireless extenders which improves cell phone signal. These are important accessories since unlike land line phones, mobile phones may encounter fluctuations in signal.
So how do cell phones work? Wireless technology has allowed cellular phones to transmit calls without the use of telephone lines to transmit and convert sound waves. In its very basic sense, calls and SMS are transmitted by the use of cell stations. Also called base stations, these cell stations serve as a bridge in connecting electronic signals from one mobile phone to another. For example, when calling someone, your cell phone will emit electronic signals to the nearest cell station and will then go through a number of advanced equipments such as a satellite until these electronic signals are transmitted to the cell station nearest to the person you are calling which will then be responsible in transferring these signals to the phone of the recipient.
